A glimpse into the brain

This March, researchers from around the world came together to spark curiosity and enthusiasm for brain research during Brain Awareness Week. Organized by the Dana Foundation and the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS), the campaign featured talks by scientists, tours, pub quizzes, as well as interactive activities and exhibitions.

On March 17th and 20th, the Institute of Linguistics of Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf, in collaboration with the Institute for Clinical Neuroscience and Medical Psychology, invited participants to explore the fascinating world of the brain. Attendees learned how slips of the tongue occur, how experiences shape neural performance, and what lies behind the phenomenon of amusia.

From TRR295, Prof. Dr. Esther Florin and Dzhamilia Aravitska took part in the event. Prof Dr. Florin conducted a tour of the magnetoencephalography lab and gave a talk titled “Deep Brain Stimulation in Parkinson’s Disease – What About Adaptive Stimulation?”, offering insights into current research and clinical applications.
