EKFS Funds ReTune Research on Sensory Systems in Movement Disorders

Exciting news from the ReTune community: A research project led by Dr. Roxanne Lofredi has received funding from the Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung (EKFS). The project, titled “Sensing Motion – The Role of Sensory Systems in Movement Disorders”, explores how sensory feedback mechanisms influence motor control in neurological conditions.

By combining neuroscientific methods with sensor-based analysis, the study aims to improve diagnostics and therapeutic approaches for movement disorders, particularly those affecting balance and coordination.

This recognition underlines the significance of research at the intersection of sensory perception and motor function. We congratulate Dr. Lofredi and look forward to the project’s contributions to the field!

Roxanne Lofredi is a neurology resident at Charité with a focus on movement disorders and clinician scientist funded by the Berlin Institute of Health. She is a postdoc in Andrea Kühns Lab and her research focuses on the oscillatory signatures and DBS-effects on voluntary and involuntary movement patterns in PD and dystonia patients.
